Gold Squad

Aims:

The Gold Squad program provides competitive training program aimed at competing at Junior and Age State Championships. Members must have some desire towards making swimming or surf lifesaving one of their chosen competitive sports.  The Gold Squad caters for children aged primarily 10 to 13 years most of which are swimming at a competitive level.

Training Sessions:

Swimmers in Gold Squad will undergo a training program aimed at achieving their best competitive results at Junior and Age State Championships (in both pool, open water and surf competition). Swimmers are encouraged to compete and will training in all competitive strokes. Swimmers are expected to make 3-4 sessions per week.

Competitions:

Swimmers should be members of the LeFevre Portside Swimming Club. Swimmers should compete in the various State Qualifying meets set out by their Coach each season. In these meets swimmers will endeavor to achieve State Qualifying times in order to compete at South Australian State Championships.

Equipment:

Swimmers must have their own drink bottle, goggles, flippers, pull-buoy, and kickboard at every training session.

Progression:

Swimmers in Gold Squad may progress to the State Squad if the can complete:

  • 30 x 50 on the 50
  • 8 x 100 Backstroke on 2min
  • 8 x 100 Breaststroke on 2min
  • 5 x 100 Butterfly on 2min
