Silver Squad

Aims:

The Silver Squad program provides opportunities for swimmers to develop all aspects of stroke technique, fitness levels and race skills to prepare for competitions. The Silver Squad caters for children aged primarily 9 to 13 years many of which will start swimming at a competitive level.

Training Sessions:

Practice sessions focus on education of technique and race skills in a fun environment. The target is for swimmers to make 3 sessions per week. Swimmers should become involved in the LeFevre Portside Swimming Clubs monthly Time Trial’s with a view of progressing into inter Club meets.

5.30-6.30pm 6.00-7.00pm 4.00-5.00pm 7.00-8.00pm

 

Competitions:

Swimmers should be involved in the Monthly Club Time Trials. They should feel confident to compete in most events up to 200m in distance. Development Squad swimmers should become a member of the LeFevre Portside Swimming Club and compete in Inter-Club meets such as the Junior Excellence Series or one of many local Club Carnivals.

Equipment:

Swimmers must have their own drink bottle, goggles, flippers and pull-buoy at every training session.

Progression:

Swimmers in Silver Squad may progress to the Gold Squad if they can complete:

  • 16 x 50 on the 60
  • 3 x 100 Backstroke on 2.30
  • 3 x 100 Breaststroke on 2.40
  • 2 x 50 Butterfly on 1.30
